Definitions:

A lot (much): To a very great degree or extent.

Many: A quantifier that can be used with count nouns and is often preceded by ‘as’ or ‘too’ or ‘so’ or ‘that’; amounting to a large but indefinite number.

Examples:

During my last week in the apartment, I spent a lot of time watching T.V.

Avenge vs Revenge []

Definitions:

Avenge (verb): To get back at someone for a perceived wrong. 

Revenge (noun): The activity of getting back at someone for a perceived wrong.

Examples:

She wants to avenge the murder of her cat.

Sara wants revenge for the eaten cake.
